IRC-UK
Hot Water System Upgrade – Air Source Heat Pump Installation
Overview
IRC-UK sought to replace their expensive to operate, direct electric hot water tanks with a more efficient , sustainable system.
Their existing setup resulted in excessive energy
use, high maintenance costs, and a significant carbon footprint.
Challenges
To design and install a system that would:
✔ Reduce running and maintenance costs.
✔ Lower carbon emissions.
✔ Improve overall system efficiency and reliability.
Solution
We designed and installed a bespoke Air Source Heat Pump system comprising:
• 4 × Clivet Air Source Heat Pumps
• 4 × 600 L Enviroheat Smart Cylinders
• Optimised pipework layout to improve flow efficiency

The entire hot water pipework network was redesigned and replaced, ensuring better flow rates, improved heat retention, and enhanced resilience. All works involving asbestos areas were carefully planned and completed under strict control measures in accordance with regulations, ensuring full safety for residents, staff, and engineers.
Phased installation allowed essential services to remain operational wherever possible, avoiding unnecessary disruption to the care home.
Results
• A fully renewed, compliant, and high-efficiency hot water system.
• Significantly improved reliability and temperature stability.
• Enhanced safety through controlled asbestos management.
• Reduced operational costs and long-term maintenance requirements.
• Improved comfort and consistency for residents and staff.
Venturi Healthcare commended the team for their professionalism, sensitivity, and high-quality workmanship — particularly given the complexities of the environment and the safety considerations involved.
